Get To Know Gayle[hr type=”line-flower”]
Hi there – Welcome! Thanks for stopping by for a visit.
Always creative, I discovered quilting later in my creative journey and once I did, life just hasn’t been the same. Quilt-making is a creative form of expression that engages all my intuitive and imaginative senses: color, texture, tactile and unlimited ways of expression.
I am an artist, a quilter and, truth be told, sunset is my favorite color.
I am inspired by so many artistic influences found in nature and I love to learn new techniques and then find ways to make them my own.
Fitting the technical definition of a quilt (three layers joined by stitches), these are certainly not your grandmother’s quilts! I utilize an unlimited array of vibrant fabrics, fibers and mixed media elements as my palette to create by hand one-of-a-kind, original works of art, which include abstract landscapes and bold, textural geometric design. Using these same techniques, I design and create small pieces of “art to go” – functional and beautiful mini-pieces of art to enjoy in your everyday life. I also really love modern takes on traditional quilts and enjoy designing personalized, custom quilts, including t-shirt memory quilts.
Seeing the world through my eyes as an intuitive artist comes naturally to me. I teach abstracted art quilt classes; sharing what I know to bring out the creative expression in others is such a joy (click here for more teaching info). I’m proud to say that my fiber and mixed media art quilts have exhibited in local art shows and are in the private art collections of many art lovers in the United States and abroad.
My art is available for purchase. Please check out my Etsy shop and my online portfolio gallery for works I have created and to serve as inspiration for a custom piece that I could design and create for you personally or for a unique, handcrafted gift. I love when something that I have created from my heart touches the heart of another and inspires them to want to own it.
Now that you know a little more about me, as a fellow art lover and aficionado of all things made with the heart and soul of a real person, I’d welcome you being in touch with me. Drop me a line via my Contact page and sign up in the Keep In Touch section (located below every web page) for very occasional newsletters and updates now and again.
CreatingGayle … do you hear the double entendre? I am on a lifelong journey of discovery and expression … one piece of fabric at a time.
